[234] My father(FG) married a Gertrude E from Gloucester, and had one daughter Barbara (born 1923). Gertrude E died when Barbara was 8 and FG married again in 1931 Gertrude Mary Bevan from South Wales. There are 3 girls from this marriage (Una Mary, Mavis Janet, and Rosemary Ann born 1931, 1932 and 1937 respectively). Our Mother (Gertrude Mary) died from cancer in l942. All in all our lives were a bit higgledy piggledy to say the least. After Mother died Barbara, who was in the WAAF, came home to look after us - it wasn't until later years I realised she was only 19. She enjoyed life and can't imagine she relished the idea. We struggled on - not always very efficiently, until FG married again to a widow with 2 children. They separated after a few years.
